My Reflection 2019

It is the new year, and it is the time to get set for the year ahead. But before we do that, let's reflect. If we do not stop to think, look back, and think forward, we are missing a very important part of being. Reflection allows us to recognize when we have made a mistake, learnt from it and then correct our course.

One of the attributes and top traits of successful people is reflection.

And here are the compilation of my reflection in 2019.

Starting A New Endeavor

In mid-2019, I took a leap of faith. I started Dream Designer, a brand to call my own.

Building the brand’s website and Facebook page was hard work but it paid off.

Dream Designer’s follower base grew from 0 to about 10, and then to more than 250 currently.

I am aware that my follower base may not be as huge as compared to pages that have followers in the tens of thousands.

However, this is still an achievement that I am proud of. It is the first step towards something greater.

I am ever so thankful to each and every one of you who supports me and follows my page.

Learning A New Skill

I picked up a new skill in 2019 - Digital Marketing.

The learning journey was not easy and at times I stumbled along, but I never stopped learning.

To grow the business and connect with more clients, I advertised on Facebook with this new skill I had acquired.

The advertising costs were steep, but I see it as an investment to reach more people and hopefully, contribute to more people’s lives through my partnerships with them.

There was a mix of everything in Digital Marketing; from delayed responses to automated connections. It was sometimes frustrating but mostly very exciting.

When is the last time you learn something for the first time?

'Never stop learning, 'cause life never stop teaching.'

Writing A New Story

I began writing articles in 2019.

Writing has been a great way for me to express myself and articulate my thoughts and opinions.

It is also a channel for me to communicate my values and world-view.

Having A New Attitude

Life is not a bed of roses.

My 2019 was not all smooth sailing, as many would have thought it to be.

I had lost a major case in January. In the subsequent months, I had almost zero cases. My first quarter ended quite miserably.

Things took a turn in April when I attended a boot camp and a training. My mindset and attitude changed after that.

For the next 3 quarters, I had successfully submitted at least 8 cases every month. It is possible through consistency and persistency.

Thanks for all my friends and clients who had put the trust in me that I will do a proper planning for them.

Investing In A New Software

I have invested much of my financial resources in courses, workshops, tools, and software.

Because I tend to be an idealist, I am easily convinced when a sales pitch paints a beautiful, perfect picture of the outcome I will experience by subscribing to a training course or purchasing their products.

I fell into the trap of impulsive spending and buying things that might not benefit me at the moment.

It is not that they were bad or useless. In fact many of them are good to certain extend. It is just whether or not it is applicable to me and I can make the best out of it.

I have learnt that there is the need to have a reality check too. If not I will be in my own dreamy world.

Sure, we are not the perfect team.

We have had our differences and opinions.

There are times which I voiced my opinions and expressed my dissatisfaction, and there were times of rebuke and reprimand.

I went through the season of molding and making.

Still, we come together for a common goal, and to achieve the better version of ourselves.

I have not arrived yet, but everyday I am striving to be closer to becoming the best version of myself.

Let us grow together and accomplish greater heights.

Making A New Commitment

Behind every successful man, is a woman.

The woman who nagged.
The woman who whined.
The woman who complained.
The woman who threw tantrum.

But, still clinging on to you.
And loving you for who you are.

We had our fair share of fights and quarrels, our happy moments and sorrowful time.

Through different background and culture, we learn and understand each other.
Through various ups and downs, we communicate and work things out together.

Through it all, it is about commitment and dedication.

How we do anything is how we do everything.
