To The People Who Matter The Most

We do not meet people by accident. They are meant to cross paths for a reason. Everyone we meet is either a blessing or a lesson.

September 22, 2019

People come, people go

Over time, it will show

Who is real, you will know

Through the years, you will grow

Indeed, there are many people that come into our lives. Some will stay and some will go. But the memories and the lessons will remain.

Our Parents

The ones who brought us into this world, our birth givers.

Our existence would not have been possible if it weren’t for them. We are given the opportunity to live and experience the world for ourselves - the joy and pain, rain and shine, ups and downs, because of our parents.

They are the ones who raised us, put food on the table. They aided us in every step along the way of our journey to adulthood and independence. While we’re growing up, they are growing old.

Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

Our Spouse

The person you marry will determine whether your life on earth is a heaven or a living hell.

A supportive spouse is important as it provides both parties in the relationship with many benefits. Feeling stressed out is inevitable to everyone and a supportive spouse alleviates the stress.

Given that he or she knows of the appropriate ways to provide support to you, it helps you maintain a positive outlook on the struggles you are facing.

However, it is good to always remind ourselves that it can be difficult for our spouses to support us when they themselves are running low on it too. It is therefore important and overall beneficial to the relationship for you to take the initiative to help your partner carry their load as well.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing,

And obtains favor from the Lord.

Our Children

Children are God’s gifts to us.

Having children and nurturing them to adulthood is a rewarding journey. The Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research conducted a study that found a direct correlation between happiness and children for parents aged over 40. There are also many new things you can learn through your children’s perspectives and their curiosity about the world around them.

Mostly adorable, sometimes frustrating, always your precious little person who is a tinier version of you and your partner.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,

The fruit of the womb is a reward.

Our Buddies

Life without friends would be akin to a life without a ray of sunshine.

Whether you are an extrovert or introvert, having at least one close genuine friend is important and a blessing. As a friend in need is a friend indeed, it is comforting to know that he or she will have your back, no matter rain or shine.

Humans are social animals that need friends for company, fun, laughter and to keep ourselves sane. Can you imagine having no one to interact with at all?

Two are better than one,

Because they have a good reward for their labor.

Our Teacher

Our teachers are the ones who impart us with the knowledge and skills that enable us to build a career.

At times, teachers are like our parents away from home as they often teach things beyond academics, like moral values and character building. Some of us may have even grown up spending more time with our teachers than with our parents, given the long hours we spend in school.

Of course, we also need to credit our parents for being the first teachers to us as well. The first teachers who taught us the fundamentals and will continue being our teachers for life as long as they are alive.

Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.

Our Mentor and Coach

Be it in your career, sports or any other areas of expertise, our mentors are the experienced role models and guides. Someone we look up to, in work and in life.

He is also the person we aspire to be one day, the role model who's good habits and mindsets we try our best to replicate.

He has gone where we have never gone before, and he will show us the ropes.

Our coach focuses on specific skills that we need to master in lives.

A coach focuses on identifying goals, prioritizing them and choosing the right path to achieve them.

A life coach, for example, focuses on your strengths and helps you map out life goals. He can help you establish a fulfilling life for the long term and even cultivate healthy mindsets that will help you tackle many complex situations or crossroads in your life.

If we see the importance of spending a large amount of time preparing for exams with the help and knowledge of our school teachers, then putting in the effort and preparing for life’s challenges through a life coach applies the same logic.

A good coach can change a game.

A great coach can change a life.

Our Advisor

Our advisor advises us on the various areas of our lives.

We cannot be the best in everything, so we let the experts handle the areas we may not be good at, while we focus on what we are good at.

Some of the advisors we need include:

  • Lawyer
  • Accountant
  • Business
  • Financial

A financial advisor is important mainly because it provides objectivity and helps put many financial situations into perspective that would be productive for you. Often times, when we try to manage all of our own finances, there is risk of emotion involved as it concerns our own hard earned money. As laypeople who may sometimes lack objectivity or ample financial knowledge to make informed, unbiased decisions - a financial advisor/planner can significantly help us avoid making impulsive choices that turn out to be dire mistakes.

Thank you everyone for being in my life.

May I continue to add value in your lives.
